Design agency Ghergich & Co and Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA have released a very interesting graphic titled ‘58 Instruments that Made Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Songs of All Time‘. They worked with a music expert to analyse documented recording sessions and do a bit of intense critical listening. They reviewed the top 100 from Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest songs of all time to determine what instruments were used in each song. They picked out the key elements of timeless songs from the 20th and 21st centuries, including instrument choice.
While a large percentage of the top 100, used the expected guitars, bass and drums, 58 instruments in the graphic will come as a surprise- from castanets and sleigh bells to the cabasa and the glockenspeil. This fascinating info graphic reveals the secret recipes of classic songs by artists such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson.
