On Friday night, Liverpool promoters EVOL threw together an impromptu night of live music at EBGBS – the basement of Liverpool’s famous Heebie Jeebies nightlife spot. The Friday 13th billing featured local bands The Holograms, The Lemonade Fix and Shy Billy along with new London punk band Bilk. The latter were unfortunately forced to pull out of the show stating ‘unforeseen circumstances’.
Anyway, the show went on and The Holograms opened to an eerily quiet Heebies basement. The psychedelic quartet returned after playing here for the launch party of single ‘All She Surveys‘ back in April. You can read my review of that set here.
A slightly larger crowd gathered in the basement to catch another bunch of local lads, The Lemonade Fix. The band are something of a scouse supergroup with their four members coming from three bands who have impressed on the Liverpool gig circuit in the last couple of years: Sugarmen, FUSS and Strange Collective.
Headliners Shy Billy – who previously went by the name ‘Lying B****rds‘ – were last to play. The rock band put on energetic performance that was anything but ‘shy’. They’ve recently been teasing a new release titled ‘Samurai‘ on social media but in the mean time, you can listen to their single ‘Youth & Old Age‘:
