First Wave of Sound City 2019 Artists Hits Merseyside

The first wave of artists to perform at Sound City 2019, as well as tickets for the Liverpool festival, has hit!

Sound City will return to the now iconic Baltic Triangle area of the city centre between the 4th and 5th May. It hosted a successful, sold-out return to the festival’s roots this year which earned nominations for Best Metropolitan Festival and Best Small Festival at the 2018 UK Festival Awards.

Tickets go on sale on this morning at 10:00 AM (Friday 26th) for the weekend which we now have the first run of performers announced for.

Spanish-born, Swedish-raised and London-based singer Mabel McVey has been revealed as the big headliner for the Saturday. She burst onto the pop scene this year with her R&B-infused club tunes like ‘One Shot‘. She also had big features on hits such as Not3s’ ‘My Lover‘ and Jax Jones‘ ‘Ring Ring‘, and recently won big at the Radio 1 Teen Awards.

On Sunday night, it will be the turn of Mercury Prize nominee Loyle Carner to headline. The South London wordsmith has been developing a devoted cult following on the underground for years but is now increasingly getting deserved recognition. His eloquent flows and unique, heart-on-sleeve brand of hip-hop promises to make him a headliner to remember.

Two Brighton bands quickly becoming a couple of the top names in UK indie, The Magic Gang and Our Girl are exciting additions to the line-up.

Singer-songwriter Louis Berry leads the way for Merseyside with bands Red Rum Club, SPQR and Monks also among the highlights of the top local talent already announced.

As always, the diverse cast of local and international musicians will be joined by workshops, art exhibitions, locally brewed real ale and all sorts of exotic street food for you to sink your teeth into.

With hundreds more artists promised by the organisers, this festival is already shaping up nicely with six months still to go until the big weekend.

Weekend and day tickets are on sale now so what are you waiting for? Grab yours here.
